Purpose:
Man City’s Performance Analysis and Insights strategy aims to continually create innovative and actionable insights that drive world-leading team and player development decisions and positively impact training and performance.
To provide direct tailored performance analysis support for the professional development phase, its staff and players at the football club.
Role specific accountabilities:
- Analyse player development through training / match footage and coach assessments to assist in individual development plans and aiding player pathways.
- Analyse opposition match footage providing insights to relevant coaching staff and creating detailed reports and analysis presentations to facilitate game plan and game review creation
- Create statistical insights relating to technical and tactical markers to support individual player and development plans (ILPs).
- Create age and learning style appropriate content at team, unit and individual level to meet the needs of the coaching curriculum and club football methodology.
- Maintain individual player development databases and profiles for use in tracking and benchmarking players throughout the system.
- Contribute to the development and management of best practice video libraries: training, team and individual
- Support the education and evolution of coaches and players in adopting data insights to inform practice and decision making.
- Lead matchday performance analysis provision (U19/EDS) and oversee the tracking and reporting of player progress
- Collaborate with coaches, practitioners and the Football Intelligence team to evolve data driven methodologies for Talent ID and monitoring.
- To work in line with the strategy of EPPP as agreed by the Club & co-ordinate data input into PMA
Essential:
- Excellent understanding of football tactics, games management and talent ID.
- Desire to specialise in player development
- 4+ years of professional football support within analysis at either senior or desirably youth level and ideally with these age groups
- Undergraduate degree in Performance analysis, Sports-Science and/or coaching.
- Football coaching, UEFA B licence or working towards
- Highly competent in using various analysis software and methods of presenting.
- High level of computer competency (MS office essential)
- Excellent communicator
- Proactive and driven to succeed
- Highly competent in deriving insights from data and video and produce intuitive reports and engaging and interactive content
- ISPAS Level 4 accreditation in Performance Analysis
- Experience of working in an elite youth development environment
Desirable:
- Football coaching, UEFA A licence or working towards
- Post-graduate degree in Performance analysis, Sports-Science and/or coaching.
- Competency in using Tableau
- Use and appreciation of psychological profiling and learning styles.
